CECILIA - HARPIST
Born in the UK to Maltese parents, Cecilia recently completed her Masters degree with distinction at the Royal College of Music where she was an ABRSM scholar, studying with Daphne Boden. Prior to this she graduated from the same institution with a First Class (Honours) undergraduate degree.
Cecilia originally started her musical life as a pianist before starting the harp at the age of eleven. A year later she was accepted into The Purcell School of Music and later joined The Royal College of Music, Junior Department.
Cecilia has been fortunate enough to travel extensively with her harp to countries including; Italy, Spain, Portugal, Trinidad and Tobago, Australia and The Baltic States.
Thanks to her Maltese heritage, Cecilia has been invited to perform regularly in Malta at venues including; The Manoel Theatre, St. John's Co-Cathedral and San Anton Palace in the presence of His Excellency President Edward Fenech Adami. In 2005 Classic FM and ITV followed Cecilia on her tour of the island which was very well received.
In 2008 Cecilia was invited to perform at the World Harp Congress; Focus on Youth. The following year she performed Holst's Rig Veda with the Radio France Choir School in front of various European Ministers and delegates.
Since moving to London Cecilia has has the opportunity to perform at many prestigious venues, including; Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace and Clarence House all in the presence of HRH Prince Charles. She has also performed various recitals at The Wigmore Hall, St. James' Piccadilly, King's Place and The Victoria and Albert Museum.
Cecilia's television appearances include; The Brit Awards in 2010 with Dizzee Rascal and Florence and the Machine and The Royal Variety Performance 2014. She also played in a Walker's Crisp Advert alongside Stephen Fry and Gary Lineker!
